    I made Etsy Front Page

    Like I do every morning, I checked my view count on craftcult and saw that my views increased over 300 views. I was curious and then I remembered that I was in a treasury so I checked the treasury and saw all the messages of congrats on Front Page. The curator, heatherhaymart, included my Coffee Brown knit coffee cozy. This is a great honor and I am so grateful to the curator for making such a beautiful treasury and including me.

    Here is my Front Page fame:

    Crazy Christmas

    With time of year, I expected some craziness with orders but never expected my holiday season to go this well. Since the end of November I have been receiving orders in my shop just about every other day and that is not even counting the custom orders that I have received. I have been working so hard on the custom orders for my online customers and am proud to say that I am all done with their orders. The pic to the right is a custom order that I did for a girl in England that wanted knit coffee mug cozies for her roommates but she wanted bar handle mustaches sewn on them. I think that they came out super cute and I am thinking of making some for Meagan's shop.

    Now I am keeping busy with custom orders for locals (I don't have to worry about shipping them) and some Christmas presents I want to give. I just hope I can do it all in the next 10 days.

    Kaedan Krafts Shop will be closing down

    I am completely outraged (to put it mildly) over the new CPSIA law that doesn't even consider the small business people of our "beautiful" country. Yes I started creating things as a hobby and it has grown into my business but now I am getting penalized because the goverment can't control it imports from China?? As a single mom, I love making baby clothes and blankets because they are just so cute for a child and now I am going to have to stop. This has become a good source of income for me and my children and now I am going to have to figure out how to work another job and pay the the babysitting for that. This country is digging itself into a deeper and deeper hole and I don't see the "government" ever getting us out. This country was built by the hardworking, small business owners of America and now they are being destroyed by our own "government". Please check out these website and contact your local respresentives to help us save our businesses.

    My brother's benefit last night

    Last night we had a benefit in my little brother's honor to help raise money to have his ashes buried at the cemetery and to pay some of the funeral costs and it was a great success. We raised over $2500 and I would like to thank everyone who helped organize the benefit and to everyone who donated their money in this struggling economy. Thank You

    A New Etsy Team: Etsy Twitter

    As I was updating my Twitter yesterday, an update from adnagam came up about check out this etsy thread about joining the Etsy Twitter team. So with my interest peeked, I checked it out and loved the idea. Scraparcs started the idea on November 2 and has had many responders of people interested in joining this new team. As there is alot of work that goes into creating and maintaining a street team, Scraparcs is looking for people to help in many different areas including a blog, flickr, promotions, team treasuries, of course a twitter and much much more.

    I am not on the team list yet but I convo'd Scraparcs and responded in the team thread asking if I could join. I am hoping that I can join because this is a team that comes together for a different reason, Twitter!

    In the meantime check out the Etsy thread: Etsy Twitter Thread

    Come and Meet: PetalsandPearls

    I would like you to meet Gretchen, the owner of the PetalsandPearls etsy shop. PetalsandPearls is filled with a variety of beautiful items for kids, women and men. So come with me on this journey to get to know Gretchen and her shop a little better.

    Gretchen has lived in Illinois, Iowa, Japan, and South Carolina and is now back to her starting spot, Illinois. With a BA in anthropology, Gretchen has traveled throughout Asia and Western Europe (I am very envious). With all these places in her travel book, it is no wonder that Gretchen's inspiration comes from the nature that she has seen locally or abroad. With bold color and texture combinations, she can find inspiration from a magazine ads. If all else fails, a good nap will set her juices back into gear.

    As the seasons change, so does Gretchen's favorite colors. Since we are in the fall season, Gretchen loves cranberry, dark turquoise and olive. Unique and beautiful color combinations play a big part in her creative process for the crochet and jewelry.

    Pets and animals are a huge part of Gretchen's life in Illinois. She has 3 dogs (Frank, Sweeetie and Starla) and 4 cats (Roger, Mona, Molly and Roy) and helps care for 3 dogs and 2 horses at her boyfriend's dads farm.

    "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert is Gretchen's favorite book because of the inspiring story of a women who follows her heart in order to live her life the ways she wants to live it. While exploring the different aspects of her personality, the woman discovers what is important to her life. This has inspired Gretchen to live everyday to the fullest.

    In 10 years...Gretchen would love to own a country home and raise alpacas so she can manufacture her own yarn (I would buy the yarn from you I love LOVe LOVE alpaca yarn). She could raise her farm animals and be creative. Lastly, Gretchen would love to make a living at crocheting and making her beautiful jewelry.

    Please be sure to stop by Gretchen's shop: PetalsandPearls

    My Best Show Ever!!

    I know that I have been very MIA on my blogging this past week but I have a very good reason: I was preparing for my best show ever! Yesterday started out as a very dreary day and my hopes were down about how this show was going to go because honestly my luck has not been great at any of the craft shows I have done this year. My first show I only sold one baby blanket and that was really discouraging but in the fall I picked up some more shows with great hope in my heart. The shows in the fall didn't live up to the hype that others had given them. Some of the shows I didn't or barely made my table money back.

    Yesterday started out slow because of the rain and about 10:30 the pace of people picked up and so did my sales. For this show I displayed more of the lower money items like my cozies, pouches and these really cute candy cane decorations (they will be listed in my shop later today). I displayed my scarves and some bags but didn't really expect much out of them. Well was I wrong! The scarves are what were the big sellers!!! I did sell some of the cozies and candy canes but the big thing was the scarves and I was so proud of myself. For a day that looked dreary at the start turned out to be a sunny, sunny day!!!

    ~~~I still have a blog giveaway for the month of November so be sure to enter here: http://kaedankrafts.blogspot.com/2008/11/10-gift-certificate-blog-giveaway.html
    In a Slump
    I feel like I am in a creative slump right now. This past weekend, I worked on a custom order that is coming out very, very cute but that is all I was motivated to work on. Typically I am running around working on 10 different projects at one time (yes, really 10) but, not this time. On November 15 I have a show and being in a creative slump is not a good thing in the week leading up to a show. I am hoping to get out of this slump soon, really soon. If anyone has any tips I am willing to listen!
    I'm on Twitter
    I kept hearing about all the craze over Twitter and how most Etsy shop owners are on there so I decided to give it a try! I am not sure how any of it works or if it will benefit my business but it is free and not a whole lot of time goes into it.
    The nice thing about Twitter is how you can see what other people (most of my challengettes are on there) are doing. So far I have linked new blog posts, new items listed and some other random updates. I have 30 followers and I am following 33 others.
    Since I am still a little lost at how to use Twitter, I am going to just keep updating and seeing how others use the site. If you would like to follow on Twitter my page is: http://twitter.com/meagansdesigns
    ~~~I am losing the favorites contest on Bundle Me's Blog by 2 votes so I am asking all of those who have not voted for me to click this link: Bundle Me's Blog and go vote for me!

    My First Halloween Costume

    I don't have much to write about today except that last night was Halloween and I made my first costume. The mouse costume is for my toddler, Danyella. I made it out of fleece because you never know how warm or cold (it was snowing a few days ago) it will be. I had lots of fun sewing the costume but didn't finish the stroller part. I was going to make her stroller into a wedge of cheese but didn't have time to finish it. Danyella still looked so cute as a mouse even if she was mistaken for a boy!

    Here is a picture of me on Halloween:

    Philadelphia Phillies are World Champhions!!!!!

    It was an exciting series to watch and last night's game was even better, as the Philadelphia Phillies WON the World Series. Growing up in New Jersey, I was exactly in the between New York and Philadelphia so when it came to sports I always picked the Philly teams because they were typically the underdogs. As I got older and moved closer to the city, my love for the Philadelphia teams grew. I have watched these Philadelphia teams suffer through the William Penn curse and after 28 years since the Phillies last one the World Series and 25 years since any championship was won for the city WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I am dedicating today's blog to the unbelievably, awesome PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES!!!!

    A Great Artist and Etsyian Will Be Deeply Missed: Cori

    Last night the Challengettes (one-a-day challenge) received some very sad news, Cori from ccdesigns died on Monday from a brain aneurysm. Finding this out was extremely sad because she was young (in her 40's) and a mother. As an etsyian, Cori was an amazing artist who made beautiful jewelry. I had gotton to know Cori through the One a day challenge and she was a great inspiration. She was always complimenting our works and encouraging us to be a better artist. Cori will be greatly missed by all those who's lives she touched.

    Come and Meet: Carapace

    Carapace, as she is known in the Etsy world and the "real" world, is an artist of many mediums. Her shop, Carapace, is filled with scuptures, jewelry, illustrations, bookmarks and a few other things. Etsy is not her "full-time" job because even without Etsy, Cara would be creating but this gives her the chance to share her creations with others.
    She loves to makes adorable sculptures out of polymer clay but her favorite medium is pencil and paper. The creative juices started flowing for Cara as a child, when her mother would give her chores if she said she was bored. Her solution, being creative! To this day if Cara is having artist's block, she will do something boring to get her right back to creating beautiful works of art. Even the touch of clay can get Cara motivated into making something beautiful that is nature inspired.

    As a mother, naturally Cara is proud of her children. When it comes to her artwork and creations, Cara is most proud when they are sold or given and the person receiving likes it.

    A few fun facts about Carapace: Her favorite color is green because of its organic origin and the versatility of its many shades. If she could be a fruit, Cara would be a pomegranate because they are great to be eaten or used as a still life picture. Since the pomegrante is alot of work to open, they are often left un-eaten and that is what Cara inspires to be: Lovely, Old and Not eaten by hungry passerby's!! Cheese and Nuts are what Cara likes to eat or lots of salsa. Momo by Michael Ende is Cara's favorite book because it teaches the real importance of time. The book helped teach Cara how to live and she loves to recommend others read it and learn the amazing things she did. Lastly, one that she is sharing with us is that she still cries at the animated Christmas stories. From Frosty to the Grinch and all of them in between make her mist up.

    Make sure you visit the Carapace shop: http://carapace.etsy.com

    and visit the Caramakes blog: http://caramakes.blogspot.com
